It is quite unfortunate for Pakistan that despite a Sindh-based Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) being democratically elected in power at the centre and exercising strong hold in the two provinces---Sindh and Balochistan--- the mighty Punjab establishment, through its unceasing machinations, since the day one went into action not letting the governments to take a breathe and focus on the public interest issues. A brute majority in the civil-military bureaucracy, which historically had allowed governments working at the centre only until it remained subservient to them and the ones even suspected for trying to get out of their clutches were booted out.
