Mfarhanonline:Dual nationals not to take part in polls: ECP

Mfarhanonline News ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission Isthiaq Ahmed Khan said Tuesday that in the next elections candidates would have to declare their nationalities and those with dual-nationality would be barred from elections, mfarhanonline News reported.

Speaking alongside Deputy Chairman NADRA at a press conference in regards to the preparation of the voters list, the Secretary Election Commission said that 3.7 billion unverified names had been removed from the voters list and NADRA had included 3.60 billion voters who had obtained new identity cards. The verification for 8 billion voters would begin from this month in the form of door-to-door registration. He added that if elections were held before the competition and approval of the new voters list than they would be held in accordance with the 2007 voters list.
