Mfarhanonline Social Media News: Adora Svitak is author of three books — Flying Fingers, Dancing Fingers and Yang in Disguise . She is one of the TED Conference's youngest speakers and the curator of youth event TEDxRedmond. Since age 7 she has been drumming up excitement about reading and writing among fellow students . "To win the future, we have to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the rest of the world, tapping the creativity and imagination of our people," says the White House's Winning the Future website. Teens who want to realize that goal don't have to look far. Hosted by major companies and organizations, the following five science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competitions are giving my generation a chance to innovate. 1. Google: Google Science Fair One of the most well-known competitions, thanks to last 2011′s "Google girls,” winners Shree Bose, Lauren Hodge and Naomi Shah, the Google Science Fair asks teenage students to enter science projects that address today’s questions or problems. The fair has earned more attention for STEM. And Bose, Hodge and Shah have become role models for girls who wish to enter the often male-dominated sciences. Fair winners can go anywhere from the CERN laboratory in Switzerland to the Galapagos Island with National Geographic . Interested students can still make the deadline: April 1, 2012.
