Mfarhanonline Social Media News: Fashion retailer H&M has beat out heavyweights Pepsi, Starbucks and Coca-Cola to become the most-followed brand on Google+ . In a testament to the network’s viability as a marketing vehicle, Google, the former number one on Google+, is now number 13. Following H&M is Samsung USA, Pepsi, Starbucks and Burberry. The rest of the top 10, compiled by Simply Measured and based on the number of “circlers” for each brand in early February, is below. The full list, which is based on Interbrand’s Top 100 Brands, is available here . Simply Measured’s report, which comes three months after Google opened Google+ to brand pages, shows an improving picture for Google+ brand page engagement. Though the number of Top 100 Brands that have a G+ page only went from 61 to 62 since Dec. 7, 15 brands are posting three or more times a week vs. December’s count of 11. While no brands had more than 100,000 circlers in December, now 13 do. In fact, the aggregate number of circlers for all G+ brand pages has risen sharply from fewer than 500,000 to more than 3.5 million, as the chart below shows. The numbers are still a far cry from Facebook, which is a much more established channel for brands. H&M, for instance, has 9.7 million Facebook fans — about 19 times the number on Google+. Facebook followings for the other top G+ brands like Pepsi (7.4 million Facebook fans) and Starbucks (28.1 million) also illustrate the gap. Meanwhile, if you’re wondering why H&M is on top of the list, Simply Measured notes that H&M has posted to its G+ page 318 times, which is more than any other brand, except for Ferrari.
