GEO 436 SHARM EL-SHEIKH: Israel and Egypt held a summit on Monday as part of preparations for indirect Palestinian-Israeli talks that could set the stalled Middle East peace process back on track. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held almost 90 minutes of consultations with regional broker President Hosni Mubarak in Egypt’’s Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. The two leaders, who made no comments to reporters at the resort, “reviewed Egyptian and international efforts to prepare the ground for the indirect talks aimed at a two-state solution,” Egypt’’s official news agency said. Their head-to-head talks were focused on the launch expected within days of US-brokered indirect negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, a process suspended since the Gaza war of December 2008-January 2009.
