Geo436 NEW YORK/WASHINGTON: Religious tensions about threats to burn copies of the Koran and controversy over a proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero loomed over the anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States. Florida Pastor Terry Jones, of the tiny, obscure Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, backed off his plan to burn the Islamic holy book on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks in which nearly 3,000 people died. “We have decided to cancel the burning,” Jones told NBC”s “Today” show on Saturday
