Mfarhanonline Sports News KARACHI: There was heartbreak for the Indo-Pak Express of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Rohan Bopanna at the All-England Club on Thursday when they crashed out of the Wimbledon Tennis Championship at the first hurdle.
The partnership of Aisam and Bopanna, seeded fourth in the men”s doubles event of the prestigious championship, fell to Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah of Colombia in a three-setter.
The Colombian duo triumphed 2-6, 6-2, 21-19 in the first-round clash.
It was a highly disappointing result for Aisam and Bopanna, who are both grass court specialists and were looking for their first ever Grand Slam crown.
They went into Wimbledon after securing their first title of the season at Halle and were expecting positive results at the most important tennis event of the year.
They began well against their opponents by clinching the first set in a convincing manner. But the Colombians bounced back by taking the next set and then they went on to pip Aisam-Bopanna in an epic final set to enter the second round.
