Mfarhanonline Social Media News: President Obama made television history last night by becoming the first sitting president to slow jam the news with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots on NBC’s “Late Night.” “I’m President Barack Obama, and I, too, would like to Slow Jam the News,” said the president before Fallon’s band, The Roots, saluted him with a sampling of “Hail to the Chief.” Obama and Fallon slow jammed the president’s efforts to stop Congress from allowing interest rates on government-subsidized student loans from doubling. “What we said is simple: Now is not the time to make school more expensive for our young people,” crooned Obama to applause from the student-heavy crowd at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where the show was taped. Obama took the reins from Fallon’s usual slow jam partner, broadcast news anchor Brian Williams. After the slow jam, Obama and Fallon sat down for an interview . The president discussed student loan rates, his likely Republican rival Mitt Romney and the recent Secret Service controversy. Today just feels different. instagr.am/p/JzauH4vZ0v/ — jimmy fallon (@jimmyfallon) April 24, 2012 More About: 2012 presidential campaign , barack obama , Politics , trending , US , Video , viral Social Media reviews series maintain by Mayya
