Mfarhanonline:Karachi: Committee to look into KESC employees sacking

Mfarhanonline News Four thousand employees of KESC have been sacked and this matter has now been given to the committee to look into. In Islamabad, a meeting of the core committee of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), called by President Asif Ali Zardari, decided to continue the policy of reconciliation in the countrys politics.
The meeting of PPPs core committee took place in Islamabad chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. In the meeting, a three member committee comprising of Minister of Water and Electricity Parvaiz Ashraf, Minister for Manpower and Labour Khurshid Shah and Senator Raza Rabbani has been formed which will provide a detailed report of KESC matter. President Zardari had convened the meeting to devise a strategy with regards to the situation in Karachi. The participants of the meeting took strict notice of the dismissal of KESC workers, and said that the KESCs decision to sack its employs was a breach of the privatisation agreement. According to the presidents spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, the government would continue to stand by the labour class. Earlier to this meeting President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani held a one-on-one meeting, in which they exchanged views on the regional law and order situation and the political scenario. The core committee, formed to discuss issues related to governance, met after a gap of three months. The decision to convene the committee was taken during a meeting of President Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani on Wednesday night, in which Karachi situation was discussed. The committee has overshadowed the PPPs top policymaking body, the Central Executive Committee, as all important decisions are taken in it. According to the sources, the meeting also discussed the countrys economic situation. The sources said that a rift within the party, which had come to light a! fter the resignation of Nabil Gabol, also came under discussion. The sources further confirmed that the ongoing talks with the PML-N on its 10-point agenda were also discussed during the session.
