Mfarhanonline Social Media News: After six years of leading the e-tailer industry in customer satisfaction, Netflix has dropped and Amazon has narrowly taken the lead, according to a new report from ForeSee Results . Amazon, also the e-tailer with the largest sales volume, got a score of 86, edging out Netflix’s score of 85 in the annual survey. Larry Freed, president and CEO of ForeSee Results, says Netflix dropped two to three points in all four categories measured in the survey: price, functionality, merchandise and content. Freed says Netflix is a victim of higher expectations for the segment. “Netflix used to compete on technology and functionality — they got movies to you fast, they were cutting edge with their ability to provide streaming video on multiple devices,” Freed says. “Now everyone does that and the field is littered with competitors — Amazon, iTunes, Hulu, uVerse, HBO to Go, XFinity, etc., are all starting to all on-demand across multiple devices. As more and more competitors enter the field, the things that used to give Netflix the edge are now just expected.” Netflix’s fall in the rankings doesn’t yet seem to be indicative of a larger trend: Last month, the company reported an 88% jump in earnings for its first quarter and has added 3 million new subscribers since January. Overall, customer satisfaction with e-tail is at an all-time high with a score of 78 of 100. Not a single e-tailer on the list of 100 had a score below 70. The report also showed gains for Newegg , Shutterfly, Staples, Peapod , Lowes, Macys.com and Hayneedle. The report, modeled on the American Customer Satisfaction Index , is based on surveys of more than 22,000 visitors to the top 100 e-tail websites, by sales volume. The full list is available here .
